Cold Bath Therapy

Cold Water Therapy also known as cryotherapy, involves the use of cold water or ice to promote various health benefits. While it has a long history of use, its applications have evolved, and it is often used for the following purpose:

Cold Receptors in the Skin: Cold receptors in the skin are more densely distributed than warm receptors. When exposed to cold, these receptors may send signals to the brain that could potentially have therapeutic effects.

Brain Temperature and Neuroprotection: Lowering the temperature of the brain is known to have neuroprotective effects. It may help reduce inflammation in the brain, which has been linked to depressive disorders.

Activation of the Sympathetic Nervous System: Exposure to cold can activate the sympathetic nervous system, which can lead to increased levels of norepinephrine.
